Kdo vlastně byly Amazonky?
Ženy bojovné, statečné, nezkrotné a divoké, někdy s mužským chováním i vzhledem. Jednalo o mýtický národ bojových žen, žijící někde pod Kavkazem. S Amazonkami se velmi často utkávali řečtí hrdinové. Naposledy Amazonky měly bojovat proti Řekům za trójské války. A pak je tady ještě jeden příběh, který mě oslovil, a který jsem chtěla ztvárnit v obraze. Na míle vzdálený od řecké mytologie a přeci spojitost existuje. A to je původ názvu jedné jihoamerické řeky. Tvrdí se, že v povodí této řeky žily indiánské kmeny vedené podobně jako onen národ z řeckých mýtů statečnými a bojovnými ženami "Amazonkami", a že řeka byla pojmenována podle nich.
Who were the Amazon anyway?
Women combative, brave, untamed and wild, sometimes with masculine behavior and appearance. It was a mythical nation of warrior women, living somewhere under the Caucasus. Greek heroes often fought the Amazons. The last time the Amazons were to fight against the Greeks was during the Trojan War. And then there is one more story that appealed to me, and which I wanted to describe in the painting. Even miles away from Greek mythology the connection exists all the time. The origin of the name of a South American river. It is said that in the basin of this river lived Indian tribes led, like that nation of Greek myths, by brave and warrior women "Amazons", and that the river was named after them.
