Amazons

According to Greek mythology, the Amazons were fierce, courageous, and indomitable women who rivaled famous heroes. Their story, however, does not end with mythology. I was also intrigued by the legend of the origin of the name of the South American Amazon River. It is said that tribes led by brave women, whose strength resembled that of the mythical Amazons, lived in its basin. It is precisely the connection between these two stories—myth and legend—that served as the inspiration for this painting.
